Life – Skill Enhancement Cell (LSEC)
About the Cell
The term ‘Life Skills’ is used to describe a set of basic skills like creativity, critical thinking,
problem-solving, decision-making, the ability to communicate and collaborate. These are usually
acquired through learning and/or direct life experience. It is important to understand and
remember that these skills actually enable individuals and groups to effectively handle issues and
problems usually confronted in day-to-day life. These skills also include personal and social
responsibility that contribute in becoming a good citizen. Thus Xavier’s Life – Skill
Enhancement Cell (LSEC) offers life skills training to students, teaching, non-teaching staff and
others who are actively involved in contributing to the growth and success of the institution at
large.
LSEC activities are designed to strengthen Thinking Skills, Social Skills, Personal Self-
Management Skills and Emotional Skills which will help learners to actively engage in the
college. Peer educators trained by the counselors of college, will present effective resources for
mentoring the students. The objective is to touch as many lives as possible, providing enduring
values in the process and transform the future generations of the society to become better citizens
of this world.
Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable the students of college to
deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Thus the major functions of
Life Skill Enhancement cell are to enhance communication skills, Leadership and Management
skills, to inculcate human values, to provide opportunity for realizing one’s potential through life
experiences, to increase students’ knowledge and awareness about emotional competency and
emotional intelligence at the place of study and, to develop interpersonal skills for achieving
excellence with ethics and thus turn into a “TRUE XAVIERITE”
