In keeping with the same spirit, The Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola was celebrated with great zeal on 30 July 2020 by the staff and management of St Xavier’s College Jaipur following the norms of social distancing. The recording of the program is available on the official YouTube channel of the college. The solemn feast began with the lighting of the lamp and floral tribute to the founder. Rev. Fr Dr Arokya Swamy SJ, Rector & Manager welcomed the gathering by encouraging everyone to follow the ideals of the founder while Rev. Fr Jisu Benjamin SJ, National Advisor, AICUF sent his greeting through a recorded message. Rev. Fr Dr Sherry George SJ, Vice-principal & State Advisor, AICUF threw more light on the cannonball moment of the Saint and Rev. Fr Dr Raymond Cherubin SJ, Vice-principal & Administrator articulated lessons that we can learn from the life of St Ignatius. The Principal, Rev. Fr Dr A Rex Angelo SJ brought the various thoughts put forward to a culmination by suggesting ways to carry the Ignatian Legacy forward at the college. The day ended with the audience rising to the call of the ‘Noble Knight’.

To function from new campus in Nevta** St Xavier’s College, Jaipur, will now be functioning from its sprawling premises in Nevta, on the Ajmer Road. The merger of the two colleges based out of Hathroi Fort, Jaipur, and Nevta, Jaipur, was formalized in a grand function held at the Nevta premises with the blessings of Rev. Fr. Soosai Mani S.J (Provincial, Jesuits Delhi Province) who presided over the formal ceremony of merger held on April 6. The new college with the combined faculties and students of both units will function under the stewardship of Rev. Fr. Arokya Swamy S.J (Manager, St Xavier’s College Nevta) and Rev. Fr. A Rex. Angelo S. J (Principal, St Xavier’s College Jaipur), who formally took charge of one of the most prestigious centre for higher learning and academics in Rajasthan. A farewell and a merger programme titled In Gratitude Let’s Journey Ahead... was organised at the St. Xavier’s college, Nevta auditorium where Rev. Fr. Augustine Perumalil S.J (outgoing Principal, St. Xavier's College, Nevta), Fr. John Ravi (outgoing Principal-St. Xavier's School, Nevta) and Rev. Fr. Varkey Perekkat (Former Manager, St. Xavier's College, Hathroi Fort, Jaipur) were given a fond farewell by the new administrators and faculties of the college. The programme provided an opportunity to familiarise the faculties of both the Hathroi Fort and Nevta campuses with each other and bringing them in the folds of one big family. The event started with a welcome note, followed by lighting of the auspicious lamp and a prayer song. The programme was organised under the able guidance of Rev. Fr. The Chief Guest for the occasion, Dr.Nalin Joshi, (Director Pulmonary Medicine, NIMS) addressed the gathering about the war against Covid-19 which is being fought bravely by the medical fraternity. The programme was also broadcasted live on the official Facebook page of the college. Rev. Fr Varkey Perakkatt, Manager, the Vice-Principal, Rev. Dr Sherry George and the Principal, Rev. Dr A Rex Angelo, inspired everybody and threw light on the quality of a true Jesuit – to serve without counting the cost.

    One week “yoga programme” for the faculty members of the college has been organized by the department of Physical Education. As we are in the hard time of COVID-19, Yoga removes negative blocks from the mind. Yoga has eight limbs yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharna, dhyana, and samadhi. In this programme we are aiming asana and pranayama. Asanas are meditation postures derived from natural movements and animal positions. They are exercises that strengthen and balance the entire nervous system and stabilize a practitioner's state of mind. Pranayama helps in purifying the blood, improving the absorption of oxygen, strengthening the lungs and heart, etc.

    On 16th July 2020, the Management and staff celebrated the Birthday of Rev. Fr. Varkey Perekkatt, Manager, St. Xavier’s College. It was a gala event wherein wishes of good health and happiness were showered upon by those present and even by those who were not there by video messages for our very dear and respected Father who joined the octogenarian club. A documentary capturing glimpses of his life was shown in the course of the celebration, leading everyone on a lane of fond memories. The members of the Management and Staff extended a token of love to Father. The Birthday Celebration concluded with some fun games, followed by cake cutting ceremony.

    MOOCs/Swayam Committee has organised a seven day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ICT tools on E- content development and creating MOOCs from 8th to 15th July 2020. The introductory session was conducted by Rev. Dr. A. Rex Angelo SJ on the topic "Rethinking Pedagogy for the New Normal". The session was very enriching as he highlighted the challenges faced by the teachers and learners during the present times of COVID 19. The whole Programme has been conceptualized with the thought of creating an online platform for teaching learning interface. The major themes covered in this programme were creation of virtual classrooms, video recording and screen capturing, creation of own web portal and documents and develop MOOCs.
